My friend was telling me last night he was driving past a house when he spotted an old Saab 99 GL from 1978 in mint condition. Being a fan of Saabs he stopped and reversed to see an old lady beside it on the drive way. He jumped out and asked the old lady if she would mind him having a look at it and she started telling him it's history. It was her late husbands car bought from new, and had been very well looked after, she had just had it MOT'd as she was going to try and sell it. She had just had it valeted and from the 2 pics my mate had taken it looked like new. She said that she was going to sell it to the bloke who MOT'd it for her for £200, which she seemed quite happy with. My mate was sure it'd be worth a lot more than this and whilst talking about it in the pub we looked one up and an identical saab 99 is selling on ebay for £1500 with 44,000 miles on the clock. I don't know the milage of the one my mate was looking at but I'm sure he said it wasn't high at all. We are now thinking of going three ways on the car and making her a better offer, do you think this would be worth putting a few quid into as a punt, and try and sell on or do you think we'd get stuck with a mint condition but ugly bage saab stuck on one of our driveways for months?

Offer £400, pop it in classic car sales at £1400 and then run it to Baron's auctions to get rid if it doesn't sell.

Can't see you losing on it and it'll give you an experience

If he gets it drop me a PM as I would be interested in knowing more about it.

In fact I'm not far from you I would be very interested if the car is solid and tidy.

Is there some fascinating story about Saab color codes and their names, or is this a smelling pisstake ?

Ha ha!!! Would you believe I even googled the word bage as I didn't think it looked right. That'll teach me to use google as a dictionary.

I think you googled it but didn't look at the result:
