What possible motive could somebody have for buying this?

Why do ebay allow it?

Surely this would come back to bite this person quite easily if this was bought to be used for crime. Sums up todays UK culture though...

I think you'll find that if you point it out the E bay they will delete the auction and possibly ban him.

They don't - its not allowed.

Several people have reported it now (they even have a specific option to report log books being offered without the vehicle) so I don't expect the auction to be up for much longer.

Its obvious for their "use" but is selling a shell with a V5 illegal?

I dont think it is, if anything you should sell it with the V5 if your`e selling it.

You can only sell a V5 with a complete or near complete car.

It is still up as of 08:00 GMT 4 March

Click Report item.
Reason for report: eBay motors or vehicle related.
Detailed reason: prohibited (banned) item.
Additional information: seller is offering registration papers without a vehicle.

Done.

A: Hello, no just the v5 and number plates. Did have til last week! cheers

I'm having a thick moment.

Why is this wrong/illegal? What can someone do with a logbook?

Make new VIN plates and change a cars identity that may have been a write off/stolen etc or classic cars to make them tax exempt.

Put a stolen or cloned vehicle as that vehicle
