I went to my local Lotus dealer to see the Evora in the flesh. It is a magnificent looking machine, Lotus has really put out an ace product and I couldn't be more proud. It gave me goosebumps. The car is definately the biggest they've ever made, but that's not saying its a bad thing. I have been a die hard Esprit fan ever since I laid eyes on a 90 SE when I was younger, but the Evora has took the spot as my new mission. I believe they have finally gotten it right. Gone are the days of a Lotus with old school aesthetics, especially the interior. The Evora aesthetics inside and out are a complete upgrade, the build quality looks superb. It finally looks like its not a kit. The rear seat space is limited, but I would say no more so than any other 2+2 sports car.

It has occurred to me after analyzing the future model line up that the Evora may very well be the last true Lotus in regards to its form, if that makes any sense. Though I've said it before and ill say it again, the proposed Elan certainly looks the part. The proposed Esprit is a huge let down in its styling. The rear especially has got to be the ugliest thing I have ever seen and I pray to the sports car gods it is changed before making the assembly line. So ugly is it I was tempted to nominate it for the "ugliest supercar" thread.

But I'm getting off track here. I wish Lotus would stick to producing cars like the Evora. The S model alongside the Elise and Exige seems to just "fit" the publics expectation of a Lotus. I don't think anyone suspects a Lotus (or really cares to have) to have engines producing monstruous horse power figures like those slated for the new cars. A perfect Lotus to me would be similar to the Evora S's performance. In the mid 300hp range on a respectably light frame with a simple yet sporty interior, an engine no larger than a V8 and of course the world renowned handling.

Keep the Elise, Exige and Evora in its current form. Bring the new Elan to life but with the engine specifications of the entry level Evora (and rid the standard Evora, keeping only the S model), and have the new Esprit a V8 twin turbo with 400-450bhp and style it like a natural progression of the Esprit V8, not like the completely unrecognizable 2012 car.

The Evora I had the pleasure of seeing was red, which while it was stunning would not be my first choice, it didn't "do it" for me. I'll take mine in "S" trim, white with black wheels, black interior, and carbon fiber bits in place of any black trim on the outside of the car. I can't pretend I can afford one new, but I can most certainly assume in 2 years they could be had for probably 50K, and that I can afford as its the same price as the 335xi I just got rid of. Let someone else pay the taxes on the car and garage queen it, and ill snatch it up with less than 20K on the clock for a fraction of the cost thank you very much. smile

I needed someone to host the pics for me, my cousin thankfully accepted.

I will only post a pic or two here, but follow the link to the other pictures. The pic of the dark red Elise was taken by my other half while she on the way home from work.

Thats the html code that you've cut and pasted. You need the IMG code instead but IIRC its [pic] [/pic] rather than [img].

Got it!

Look how purty LOL

Pics were taken on my cell phone, so quality isnt all that good as you can see. Another thing about Lotus cars I wanted to say was that they are not photogenic cars. Pictures do them no justice. Do yourself a favor and go see an Evora in the flesh.

You must look through different eyes to me but you'd make a great Lotus salesman (assuming you're not already) wink

It's 9am in the UK.

I mean you clearly have a great love for the styling of the Evora which isn't shared by me but it's great that it's appealing to people out there.

I share your love of the Esprit - now that was a design.

I forgot you were over seas. I guess im the only insomniac then hehe

Yeah, I thought the Evora an awful and disproportioned design when it first appeared, but then one day I came across the Top Gear video on youtube of the White with black wheels and it just clicked. Now I am totally in love with it!

And yes, the Esprit was definately an inspiring design, from its very first incarnation.

Well, im off to bed now, im falling asleep at the keyboard here. Good night then. See you all in a few hours.

I quite like the Evora, but I'd prefer it with the back seats missing and the chassis shortened appropriately.

The nicest version I've ever seen is featured on the Stratstone web-site. In white with black detailing and roof. Can't find the link to the picture, so here's the link.

Also, it's not the Mansory version as Stratstone have had that image there since last year.

Love the Evora. Simply fantastic, British at its best.

(with help from Jap engines and Malaysian management, sadly).
Sadly indeed, but i'd rather have it that way than no way at all.

I do hope that one day Lotus becomes independent enough to create a full line up of its own engines. I believe thats the plan isnt it with the majority of the new models?

Not keen on white myself, but I think the Evora looks much better in person than in photos.
