Range Rover Evoque Joins The Green Party

(It's a story about paint colours. Give us a break...)

Range Rover fans are getting their first chance to see the new baby Evoque with its array of colours and personalisation options at the Geneva motorshow this week.

We liked the one in a shade of lime green on the show stand (although it's sure to have a more arty-farty name), and so we thought we'd share a few extra pics from the press kit as we've only seen it in 'basic' colours before.

It seems as if Evoque buyers will be faced with some tricky choices from the design, trim and technology options listed, ranging from designer exterior packs, contrasting colours on the roof and spoilers as well as the various interior themes. Gerry McGovern, Land Rover design director has gone so far as to call the choices 'spectacular', and who are we to disagree. Either way the fit and finish seems suitably upmarket, and there's a luxurious feel to the cabin - especially if you order the leather-topped fascia.

The Range Rover Evoque will be manufactured at Land Rover's Halewood plant in Merseyside, and it goes on sale in more than 160 countries worldwide from summer 2011 priced from £30k. Anyone want to bet against it topping the sales charts?

This will be the new mini. Everyone that bought the mini to be hip when it was launched will now be clamouring to get in a Evoque.

Looks good in the pics, hope the real thing is as good.

I won't be replacing the Freelander for a couple of years but when I do that could be the replacement.

The pic of the one at the show looks great! Although I'm not sure why. The tan interior is not my cup of tea, but I'm sure some people on here would love it.

I saw one on the road a couple of weeks ago. I was shocked to see it out and about, but it's a very distinctive car. Looks really good in dark green.

This is not an X1 .... Which in my opinion is a clown car.

Even though the RR is based on the Freelander 2 (an f'ing good car by the way), it's still going to be amazing to drive .... although I may think twice before taking it off road.

Looks good and I'm sure it will sell well, which is great news for keeping jobs going in the UK.

Whats the point when all the customers will want white, black or grey?

I was up at my parents in Warwick on Tuesday/Wednesday and saw an Evoque in a very dark BRG - it's a lovely looking car, but I have to say, the colour really didn't suit.

I think, like any other car, it will be quite sensitive to colour. My sister currently has a Lexus RX400h, but is looking at replacing it with the Evoque - hopefully that means I'll be getting to drive one some time soon

I still cannot handle the lack of windows - like a rolled HR-V.

I know its a bit of a cliched phrase, but the pictures don't really do the colour justice, I spent a good 15 minutes looking at the green hue. Was one of my favourite shades at the show.

And having never seen a Evoque before, I have to say I was massively impressed with the car. It's nice to see a car make the transition from concept to reality and not alter at all. But everything, from its proportions to fit and finish were deeply impressive.

I hope this car is a big success, and Halewood sure could do with the jobs. The face of the car does look like a particularly smug fat bloke though.

Mrs Digga has had one on order for nearly a year now - I'm sure we'll be asled to spec very soon.

A question for those of the PH massive who have actually seen/driven one:

3 or 5 door?

I'm thinking it looks better as a 5 door, but then there is something about the 3 that looks like the Range Stormer.

From a residual point of view, I'd go 5 door. As you just know come selling time, prices of 3 door models will be hit, as Families will want 5 doors. Personal opinion of course.
