OK,
Dreaming again,

The 5 plus the bonus has just rolled in for me (wishfull dreaming)

Would you tell any one, not even your family, (excluding the wife)

Could you carry on just the way you are now, with the added £1 Mill in the bank.
Or would you let your self go a bit, and let the neighbours wonder where the new £70,000 car came from.

I'd spend it and let people wonder. Could have been left in a will or anything. I'd buy a few nice cars and a flat, and enjoy life more. I'd still carry on with my degree but just have a much more stress-free life without money worries and it'd enable me to do things I wanted.

This is PH. I've got a million stuffed down the back of one of my sofas, I just can't be arsed to get it.

Nah, would be very subtle about it, people get weird about money.

I'd tell family, could help out sister with her mortgage. Then buy a couple of cars.

not a lot these days is it a mil, but ould be nice to pay off the mortgage maybe moce to a slightly bigger house with room for a garage to house the new car.. but that's it, i would have no problems telling people but i would tell them i won maybe £2-300k rather than a mil, then no room for scavengers.

I would still work in a stress free average paid job, as you wouldn't need to earn much. If I could cover the bills by work with a few hundred left over, the rest of the money will be for me.
Big deposit towards normal house and a garage £70,000
E39 M5 £10,000
Aston Martin DB7 3.2 breathed on to be quicker than the V12, whilst being cheaper to run and more fuel efficient. £28,000 including the £4k conversion.
Live normally and not excessively so it all disappears. Yeah I wouldn't hide I'd won, but I wouldn't divulge into exactly how much, except to my nearest and dearest.

On the £850-£900k left the interest must be £25k a year plus.

Edited for a terrible spelling mistake.

Would treat it like supplemental income -- say 15-20k a year. Might buy a couple of older cars that I've always wanted to own. Should let me enjoy life much more not having to worry about money and having couple of grand a month to spend on whatever I like (or keep put away if I decided to do so).

Lottery winnings are tax free so I'd try to hang on tot the intial capital and juust spent the interest.
Either that or invest it and let it work for me.

Any financial advisors here on PH?

What would the interest be on £1,000,000 I wonder?

I'd buy a half decent car and a few nice things to make life nicer (new TV etc). Possibly give some to parents to pay off debts. If I really wanted to push the boat out I'd perhaps rent a nicer flat than I have now. Other than that I'd like to think I'd safe it for the future. So no, I probably wouldn't tell.

Anywhere between 39,000 and 1,000 depending where you stashed it.

Of course you could invest it with the boys in the city and end up with zero. Your million would then be partly invested in a Vantage V12 for Billy Whizz Banker.

Investments can go down as well as up, all calls recorded for training purposes, bla bla bla bla

HTH

I would not invest it, rather keep it in various bank accounts. I'd be happy on a £30k return, taxable of course.

No I don't think I'd tell, but I'd make more offers to help family/friends out when they need it...
