A friend wants a top end sports/GT coupe that must be 2+2, auto & with a good active ride/air suspension system. He has had various 911s (including a 997 Turbo S that wrecked his back), top end Audis & doesn't think he is quite ready for a Bentley GT & a recent ride in a Maser 4200 left him heading for the osteopath! He also wants a car that sounds as good as it looks.

He is looking at 2 different cars in terms of character ie a DBS & a California, both with auto box. He is suffering a serious bout of indecision (everyone say aahhhhh!!) as the terms he has been offered are very similar albeit he can have the DBS immediately though will have to wait 4 or so months for the other to be built & might miss any summer for 2011!?

All his mates & SWMBO are saying 'DBS' (me included) - are we missing something with the California other than the drop-top roof? confused

Comments/suggestions please?!biggrin

I didn't realise the SLS was a 2+2???

My wife wanted the Cali but I wanted her to have the DBS. So I won but it took me 6 months to do so.

Cali looks very awkward IMO. It just doesn't flow. DBS is just so beautiful.

There is no compitition.

DBS all day. Cali just looks uncomfortable at the back.

Would a normal DB9 not be more comfy than a DBS...?

The DBS is 2 seat only isn't it, apparently the DB9 is a 2+2 but when my neighborer showed me the DB9 he borrowed I couldn't find any rear seats.

I would have thought the DBS would loose something without a proper manual 'box.

How anyone could look at that and then buy a California I do not know.

Stunning.

Out of those two I'd take the DBS but whatever he does make sure its not brand new. Doesn't matter how wealthy you are nobody likes throwing away 70K overnight.

How about an SL 63AMG? To be honest the Bentley is his perfect car, he just doesn't know it. Its clear he's an old get.

Looks wise it would be the Cali, pretty much all the Aston range leaves me completely cold.

I used to love the California but after really looking at it I just think it looks to much like an S2000.

Which doesn't mean I think it looks bad at all, I just think Ferraris should have more going for them.

I'd take a DBS over a California, but he doesn't sound like he wants hardcore anymore. Why not get the softer DB9 instead?

The SLS is another fantastic shout.

I have spoken to several people who have suffered chronic back ache from driving Astons on longer journeys, no idea about Ferrari.
