Good afternoon,

About a year ago I gave away a car (Ford Cougar 2.5 V6) to a very nice young guy who was going to turn it into a 'Track Slag' - was in great condition and was surplus to requirements as we had a newer car.

My thought process was "Why go to the effort of advertising a car that is not worth much when someone else can get some benefit?".

Well, the offer may well be available again for the price of a few beer tokens or something else that may be exciting.

The car is an E36 328i, stil in daily use, and come swith the following:

Blue / green colour
4 door
2.8l 24v Straight 6 developing 193 bhp.
147,000 miles
Tax
MOT
Full Service History (Doucumented)
Manual
Cloth Interior
Climate Control
Good Stereo
Good Tyres

Has a little rust on one of the rear wheel arches, a dent in the driver's door (has not cracked paint as happened at about 3 mph where someone skidded into us during the cold snap) and a dent in the front where the car was involved in a little scrape (no damge to frame, radiator etc - only cosmetic).

So in summary - not expecting anything for it really and would rather it went to a good home with a fellow Pistonheader than have stacks of tyre kickers coming around and sucking through teeth.

We live in Somerset.

Wow, what a generous person you are. I would be very tempted apart from the fact that unlike TheLurker I wouldn't be able to do anything interesting with it due to a lack of a driveway to work on. Still, I forsee another "PH BMW 3 series track slag" thread appearing soon.

Maybe sniff diesel could do with another E36 hehe

How much would you realistically want for it? Got a friend who's looking for another E36.

Just spoke to my friend, a fellow PH'r who says that if it's still around he'd love to take it off your hands. If it is available drop me a PM and I'll get him in touch with you.

What a nice offer smile I'm sure he'll quench your thirst of course smile

Why don't you give it away to whoever will make the largst donation to a worthwhile charity like a cancer hospice or something for terminally ill children?

That's not a bad idea, but there may be some members on here with very little money. In that situation they are most likely to be outdone and thus loose out on the car.

I think the car going to the most 'deserving' member is a splendid and noble idea. The guy doing the Cougar restoration/conversion was doing a great job.

I don my hat in your direction OP smile

An update:

If anybody can make it over today (Sun 6 Mar 11) and pick it up then that would be great as we were due our first child yesterday and I don't know what our schedule will be like for the next week or so!!!

The car has a full tank so the winner pays for that and I think a donation to charity is a smashing idea.

Quite right to the last poster - I think the most deserving person should get it.

I can recommend the free cars biggrin

What a generous chap you are OP! When the cougar is finished (I'm slow, I know) you must come out for a spin on a track day.

Dear Mr TheLurker,

Glad to hear things are progressing, albeit slowly, with the Cougar - I am still very much on for that trip in the 'Slag' when you have cracked it!

Everyone is making much better offers than I ever could. But I am an E36 nut and I'd take very good care of it if that appeals?

I could give a bit of money and donate some to charity if that helps my cause?

If I was in it for the money I would sell it in the true fashion - I am lucky enough to be able to donate it to a worthy cause which is far better for everybody!

TheLurker will no doubt vouch for me!

I dropped you a email bud, i've got a e36 323i 4 door at the minute but think the headgasket is failing (sympathy vote). May i suggest a lucky dip and then you could choose what you would like as a gift? wouldnt mind a track slag and project
