A proper protest.

my e-mail address is

We NEED to do something, and someone has to start the ball rolling. I am 100% behind this and commited to it.

Actually no we don't "NEED" to do something.
The tax has to come from somewhere.
If not from fuel then somewhere else - and speaking as someone who's currently losing 50% of every additional pound I earn in tax then I'd like to see the bill spread around.
Fuel tax is at least a usage tax and you have a choice - drive less (it's a privilege not a right), get a smaller car or take public transport.

I thought Quentin Wilson has been rolling the ball for quite some time already.

The OP is correct, something does need to be done . . . . . I’d suggest we start with the sterilisation of every person who has posted on the thread the OP linked to.

The UK has far too many jealous halfwits, who would rather disrupt the entire country than do something that has more effect.
Want to do something about fuel taxation? The get every person you know to write to their MP and to the Chancellor of the Exchequer and demand that something is done. Even that would be rather pointless as Osbourne has already started making noise about no going ahead with fuel duty rises

I know this amounts to 'send them an email' or 'start a facebook group'....and it's just an idea...but...

What if, everytime you filled up you sent an email to downing street (cc-ing your mp) detailing how much tax you've paid, and how much of it is a journey you had to make and how much of a percentage of your budget it is.

Now bear with me...here's how it would work.

If everyone did it, it would cause a massive headache for the government. I don't know whether it would crash their servers but if people did it from personal accounts, and kept the format inconsistent (ie. NOT using a template) then someone would HAVE to read it so as to delete it, and if you got enough people to do it they would quickly become overwhelmed and the inconsistency (personal accounts, inconsistent wording/format) would mean it wouldn't be able to legitimatley be anti-spammed.

And the beauty of it is, it would take people no time to do. No blocking dartford tunnel. No sitting out in the cold. No criminal record (probably Terrorism Act charges knowing this shower), no time off work etc etc. No crushed car when they bring the tanks in smile As I said, if everyone did it, everytime, they might get the message.

As I said I know what I just said amounts to 'Send him an email' which is a source of LOLZ on Pistonheads, but I can't think of anything that everybody could do, at no cost and probably 2minutes work per fill-up that would tell them how we feel without bringing about god knows what legal bks from them or doing petty things like boycotting BP or not filling up on a tuesday.

This way we go about our daily business but make it hard for them. Maybe it would stop them seperating 'motorists' and 'electorate' in their heads...
Show them that we can push back.
