New posters who express really strongly negative opinions about every car they comment upon seem much less likely than average to have filled in their garage in their profile.

Am I the only one who gets this impression, and if not, what's going on with these people?

They watch Top Gear repeats on Dave, and believe as gospel every word that comes out of Clarkson's mouth.

(Don't get me wrong, I love Top Gear, I just know to take everything they say with a pinch of salt!)

They own awesome cars, and you'd be sick with jealousy if you knew.

It's quite simple:

For a given population there is a percentage that are defective

For those defective human beings there is a percentage that have managed to get online

Just take a deep breath and treat it as cyber care in the community wink

It's not a particularly new phenomenon.

On a related matter, I was moved to post this about two years ago.

That is brilliant. With a few changes to some of the words, I can apply that thinking to just about any scenario I ever come across that makes me go 'What the fk?'

Thank you smile

So they're basically the automotive version of the guy for whom every woman is a minger below his standards but who is desperately hoping nobody knows he's a virgin?

They have so many defects it would be foolish to rule out any particular one...

I own an Astra.

I plead insanity. At least I admit to it....

But these folk think that their Astra is the best thing in the world ever.

Going by the 'review' of yours in your garage, you don't.

True. It doesn't break down much. An automotive washing machine, with slightly less vibration excitement.

In all fairness, at work a lot of us have strong opinions about cars, we all tend to know what we're talking about (we're mechanical/automotive engineers) but that doesn't automatically mean we all have good cars.

Then again nobody is ashamed of their car (only one guy has an astra, and it's deisel), so can't see why they wouldn't put up their car.

Guess some people are just misinformed idiots.

There are very few users of this forum I take remotely seriously when giving their negative opinion on whichever car is on topic. There are even fewer whose opinion on non-automotive things I take seriously.

Oi I had an Astra as my primary vehicle until a couple of days ago!

I'd be inclined to agree with the assessment of auto sherminators though.
