I really thought when the voiceover said 'Even the worst driver'...he was then going to follow with 'Here she is parking into the garage'.

That's a great idea, and I bet implementable now at not too much extra cost, especially if it was designed into the car from the start. I wonder why it's not been looked into much - people obviously are open to the idea of strange things to help parking - see Smarts parking sideways, Prius' robotic parallel parking, etc.

How many car park prangs would that cause when someone misjudges the length of their car? How difficult would it be to seal the boot area from the weather?

Not a great idea IMO, solving a problem that doesn't really exist. If you want a car that is easier to park, buy a smaller car, not a huge American behemoth.

Could spin the car around endlessly in the local car-park of a Friday evening with the boyz, without the need to replace the tyres the next morning. hehe
