Hi all,

I'm looking at purchasing a Navara pretty soon to pull the racer with. I'm just looking at getting some insurance quotes and they seem to be coming out at roughly double what I pay for my highly modified supercharged TVR?!

This seems a little odd to me as I have 5 years no claims, no points etc, 25 year old, kept in garage and generally a very insurable position. Is this because the Navara is a pickup and I need to look at a specialist insurer?

Try the NFU.

My pick-up is done through Kerridge and is quite reasonable (work policy).

Oh and don't buy a Navara.

Ahh yes, it's classed as a commercial vehicle. Similar issues with insuring an L200. Or even nipping to the local council tip with household waste.

Explain yourself sir!

I haven't actually driven a Nav yet but all the reviews I've read seem to put it on top. My GF's dad owns an L200 warrior and I've driven that a few times and it is a nice truck, though I'm just not sure about the looks, and the reviews seem to say that the Nav is the better car.

Thanks for the advice though, I'll take a look at the other insurers...

L200 is What Van Pickup of the year for 2011. I am on my second new shape L200 now. First was a Warrior, I now have the Barbarian.

Neither truck has had any issues at all. Smallest turning circle in its class. Shogun transmission. Good off-road and on (well as good as a pick up can be). Comfortable etc etc.

All round better than the Navara IMHO (although I would say that being a Mitsi man!).
