WOW rescued by a chav
Discussion
I broke down today in My D reg XJ 3.6 jag litteraly within seconds of opening the bonnet a chav in a chaved up corsa pulls up behind and the lad gets out and says do you need some help at first i wasnt sure i wanted him anywhere near my car but as my brakedown cover had expired i thought what the hell, he gose back to his car and pulls a tool box out the boot and removes one of my spark plugs to see if we had spark."It's flooded" he said. He cured it by removing the petrol pump relay, getting me to churn it, and as soon as it began to fire, he plugged the relay back in and BINGO.
im not sure i can look at a chaved corsa in the same way again, turns out he was running a 2.0 red top in his corsa seemed like a nice lad just looked like a chav. i offerd him £10 for his help which he refused to take which was another surprise. But hey fella if your reading this thanks alot for today!

Moral of the story: Don't judge a book by its cover.
I've met people who look like absolute nutters at a glance - shaven head, goatee, tattoos, steely-eyed stare that reads "I'm gonna kill you and rape your firstborn"; yet as soon as I speak to the person in question he's very well spoken, very polite and courteous.
Surprised? I was!

That is nice to hear and makes a refreshing change! One of my closest friends appears as a chav to people who don't know him, drives an Impreza, always wears a cap, Henley's top, etc. However he is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet and will help anyone out. When I first met him I expected him to be tosser but was pleasantly surprised, and I'm pretty sure he's not the only one!
Once I was about to pull away after filling up when I had a knock on the windscreen. It was three very shifty looking chavs asking for a jump start as their car at another pump had drained the battery. I was a bit reluctant but agreed as we were in a well lit area with CCTV. So I got them running, whilst keeping a subtle eye on the van.
Anyway it turned out they couldn't be more pleasant and were very thankful indeed for my help. He even offered me some cash for it which I declined. So it was me who was being daft on that occasion.

Sounds like a 'boy racer' which I wouldn't always describe as a chav.
A chav is jobless, talentless, uneducated, useless, rude, unwashed and thinks a tracksuit is perfect every day apparel for public places.
A 'boy racer' can often appear to be a chav but is actually a decent mechanic. I wouldn't be surprised if the Corsa in this story is still a basic 1.1 in the log book yet runs the 2.0 red top.

I dont like how boy racers (car enthusiasts) and "neds" are grouped into one by some.
Sometimes neds are also boy racers which I do understand.
My mechanics has a red top corsa which if you didnt know him would seem a bit "chavved up", but in reality its just one of his projects which kinda got classed into a different "enthusiasts" group.
But someone stopping and helping a fellow in need is a very rare sight nowadays, kudos to him!
I've seen people broken down before and I would offer to help... but I know eff all about fixing cars. I was stuck on ice in a car park, on a hill when the weather was really bad, and no one offered to help me for half an hour.
its the society we live in today.

You're welcome, though I dont class myself as a chav, I guess boy racer is ok though - keeps me young (gf keeps telling me being 21 doesn't class me as a "boy" anymore lol)
Mate , hat of to you
Was great to hear there are still people like YOU that help others
