Hi All,

Just realised that there are fewer cars on the road than, 1 year ago in my local area.

Boys racers, in saxos, corsas etc have totally disappeared.

So is this the rise in cost of fuel, insurance or both?

IceBoy

PS. At some point, the £1.40-odd per litre is going to effect the majority of families, motorists etc etc etc!!

Only one of those is an absolute requirement to make your car work, the other is a piece of paper.

^^^That!^^^

If you think for one second that people have suddenly come over all morally correct & decided not to drive simply because they couldn't afford to, or be bothered to insure their cars then you need to have a word with yourself.

must be getting really tempting for alot of folk to steal fuel too , must be one the easiest ways to take near £100 worth of stuff without paying

did you hear the piece on the radio over the weekend?
they were talking to a mixed group of young drivers that had just passed...some of the insurance quotes were bloody eye watering

one that springs to mind was £8k for a 17 year old to insure a £2k fiesta eek

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU....

Why do people insist on mentioning the value of the car when it comes to insurance quotes? In this kind of case, it is completely and utterly irrelevant.

I don't think £7k sounds that bad, when you actually think about the service they're providing. I certainly wouldn't underwrite the unlimited amount of damage that a new 17 year-old driver who I'd never met could do for 7k a year!

ok then
how many 17 year olds can afford £7k (or the £8k quote that I mentioned) for insurance?

Probably very few, in which case they can't afford to run a car.

I think the number of youngsters that will drive uninsured are going to be a tiny minority. The rest simply won't drive. Most kids are pretty responsible.

As to this lighter traffic - I wish I could see it. I go over the M62 to Leeds and it is even heavier than normal since the Christmas break - so bad I've moved back onto my motorbike. Took me an hour to do 35 miles this morning, it was chocka-block frown

(Tinfoil hat time) I think it's all about social engineering & predict that in 50/75 years time driving will be as anti social as smoking. Brake are just a small but growing part of society that wants kids taught at school that it's wrong to drive & by the time they leave school no one will insure them, so ultimately they will have no desire to pass their driving tests & the thought of owning their own car will never enter their heads. These ridiculously high insurance quotes for kids are really just part of the whole process of changing the next few generations views on driving & owning a car.

Maybe all the teenagers round your way have grown up or had their cars siezed, and the kids that still live there are under 17, also the penny counting means less cash in families for buying & maintaining cars so yoof's are forced into the bus!

As for the bit about insurance quotes, my 1st years insurance was £3,200 for a £350, 10 year old Rover 214, I was 18 with pass plus!
I'm now 24 and my Insurance is £1900 for a Volvo S40 2.0D, 6 years old worth £4k tops

Enjoy!

Most of them are relatively quiet from the factory. It's only when idiots take the baffling out of the silencer that they get really loud and annoying.

Is that what makes them produce that noise?, massively annoying noise.

I believe so, yes. Certainly on the odd occasion that I've ridden little mopeds, they haven't been particularly loud.
