Fuel tank range
Discussion
So, it seems there's loads of people on here who hate filling up on a regular basis.
I hadn't noticed before, but the Top Gear Magazine now includes 'range' as one of the data points in the new car section at the back.
It transpires that if you drive 'at' the combined mpg, there is one car where you can now do 1000 miles on a single tankful.
The Peugeot 508 1.6 eHDi 112 with a possible 1017 miles
2nd - BMW 320d Efficient Dynamics at 925 miles

I've never got why people don't fill up to the brim. It's as if it's somehow cheaper to buy £20 at a time. At least if you brim it you can spot if it starts to do fewer miles to a tank and then check out what's causing it.
1k miles to a tank. Imagine having to only fill up once a month but still do the average mileage. Nice

Its great to have that kind of range but how big are the tanks on these things!!
I could convert my boot into a fuel tank and get 1k from it...............maybe??
Its all very interesting but very pointless. I would imagine the top gear miles to tank stats have been used in many after conference pub arguments!

My Audi 80 1.9Tdi would get 600 miles to a tank (65l tank).
The Skoda Fabia 1.4 Tdi would do 650 miles between fill ups from a 45 - litre tank - seriously impressive range/economy.
The 328i does about 400 miles from 65 litres! Fun though....
My car has a theoretical range of about 460 miles from 35 litres
Also a big fan of filling to the brim because I found one of my old cars ran like crap if it was near empty. Couldn't afford to fill the Laguna to the brim when I had it at nearly £90 a tank though (rather tried to fill it from half full instead
