odd bmw kerb weight

i was just looking at the brake test sheet on my mot for my E36.

it stated 'weight - 1630'

all of the figures i've ever seen are about the 1440kg mark

the car way empty of any gear and had practically no fuel in it either

i thought bmw stated weights with 2 passengers, half an tank and luggage?!

so where has this 200-300kg come from? is it that the brake test rollers are so far inset into the ground that when they add the front and rear axle weights they're slightly erroneous due to messing up the distribution, or are they just that inaccurate?!

Is it definitely weighed at all? It might just be the official MGW of the vehicle which the rollers need to know in order to work out how good the brakes have to be?

Probably just the maximum axle load or GVW taken from the chassis plate

ahhh....

i thought it seemed odd that brake rollers were calibrated/designed to state weights too.

that makes more sense then. although that'd have to mean the car weighed, like... 1200kg to allow for say 5 80kg passengers. that's not including luggage

or do we all overload our cars past manufacturer specs anyway?!
