shed with a little character for under 2k?suggestions please
Discussion
Afternoon chaps,
So need a car under 2k, age not important...the more character the better...want something that will do 30miles round trip, and not hit the wallet too much on mpg (1.6 litre will probably be limit). Its for my brother who's 25, so insurance quotes is still a factor...
looking for inspiration...he did have an e30 bmw 1987, great car...other than the same again what else do you knowledgeable folk recommend...happy to go early 90's..even 80's again at a push...so far usual shed material Ford Focus, Golf, Astra etc...thanks in advance PH'ers!

Ford Puma? Go for a 1.7 - it's more than the capacity you've stated but you'll easily get 40mpg or higher from everyday driving. It's been a while since I looked at values, but £2k should be able to get you a decent one. Apart from rusting to buggery, mine was a pretty pain-free ownership experience.
I'm assuming by character you mean "it'll be rewarding to drive", rather than "it'll probably get me on first name terms with an AA employee".

Mazda MX-3 V6? 1.8 so that might be pushing it a little, but you'd get a very good one for ~1k. Look nice, drive great & make a great noise.
Seen a couple of these recently and quite fancy one.
If you're feeling a bit brave there's always the option of the 4WD variant from the generation before: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2501807.htm

What would the insurance on that be though?
