What's the cheapest and easiest way to get a HPI check done?

Tell the seller you will only buy at the agreed price if they provide a clear HPI report

Obviously only applies if you're buying and not selling!

Hpi also give finance details, I don't think the cheap checks give this.

Correct, the cheapest that gives finance details is the RCA (£15.50). Its the same as the 'official' HPI minus the drive away insurance I believe.

very first check to do is the tax site to check that that is the right car/engine/colour/year.

then either get a HPI or a mycarcheck thingy done depending on car value.

none of it will tell you if the car is clocked though, so make sure you spend ages looking round the car, and most importantly check the oil when you get there before the car has warmed up, and after a drive. tells you if they have flushed the system to hide a HG issue.

Given that full HPI check including indemnity and drive away insurance is the price as a few gallons of petrol, why pay less.
It’s certainly worked and identified issues for me in the past.

Efbe, a full HPI will include a VMC check which should throw up any mileage discrepancies.

No, they offer their own data history check. HPI offer their check. Why are people struggling with this concept?!
