It clearly states maintenance and repairs.

Yet in the small print it excludes maintenance and repairs. In fact it excludes everything bar servicing!

Out of interest, has anyone used a main dealer for competitive pricing?

It's not clear though- to me a comma means and/or.
Could be read both ways.
Anyhow do they mean they could price match an indy?

They mean they'll price match an indy within 5 miles that is using official VW parts.

Surely that's highly unlikely? And either way who is going to get a written quote from an indy stating exactly how much it'll cost and stating he'll only use VAG Oem parts?? He'd see straight through you!

Well if an indy wants your business for a nearly new car that's in warranty, they MUST use VW OEM parts to keep your warranty...

Ah so if the car is older than that- that's when it's buggered.

I guess VW don't care about people taking their out of warranty cars wherever the hell they like (and probably have "value service" products for them too) - it's the in-warranty services they don't want to lose

I can see why they are doing it I know of a VAG specialist who will bend over backwards to take a customer from their nearest VW dealer, a friend rocked up there with a 1200 quote to fix a couple of 'urgent' issues on his Passat the specialist had his car a day and charged him 175 for things that needed doing (none of which were on the dealers quote) and the car hasn't missed a beat in the 6k miles he has done since

I need my car fixing and all indy's (VW specialists) have up to 4 weeks wait. Well with engine management light on and airbag light on I'd rather not wait that long.
I'm sure VW will rape my wallet though unless they can honour their price promise.

Aren't they just talking about services.. We lose so much money on "investigation" compared to servicing.

No they don't.

Block exemption rules require them to use parts of an equivalent quality. They need not be manufacturers parts.

So in a warranty dispute VW garage drops out an XYZ filter - how do you prove it's equivalent quality if they say it's not?

Sounds like an opportunity for the indies to stitch up their local dealers!

A letter from the manufacturer, though by law the parts don't have to be genuine, it avoids hassle if they are. The manufacturers don't make their own filters, so if you use a brand like Mann or UFI, the only difference will be the box.

Also non dealer servicing may affect manufacturer contributions for any out of warranty good will claims.

From my understanding, it does NOT have to be a VW indy. It can be any garage using OEM parts.

Interesting my car is due a service soon.

Anyone had experience as yet or still a little early?

They did it a few years ago and stuck to the deal.

Merc did it about 3 years ago amazingly enough.
