Help with annoying trader situation and my "new" car

I've just bought a 2nd hand car with a "1 month warranty". It's a £3.5k car.
Now all I'd like to know is what this warranty is likely to cover.
From where I'm standing it's a 10 year old car so it's going to have some faults! Surely this warranty can't fix all the niggly bits which have gone wrong?
One of the electric windows is faulty ( He said this would be fixed when I picked it up but it wasn't!), and the next day I drove the car the engine management light came on.
The airbag light was on when I viewed the car but he assured me this would be fixed. It was. He seemingly took the bulb out.
The airbag light doesn't come on at all now!
The engine management light has come back on too- he supposedly fixed it. Well it hasn't worked.
I want to keep the car, I really do as I do love it but the guy clearly cant be trusted.
What would you do?

take it back, tell him you want your money back.
i wouldn' even given hm the chance to sort it, he will obviously just fudge it.
If he kicks up a fuss tell him you will report him to Trading Standards, its about all you can do.

Why on earth did you buy such a fault ridden car? Is it anything interesting? Otherwise there are plenty of £3.5k 10 y/o cars for sale.
Once again efbe comes up with advice that wont get you very far in the real world of buying old cars. Just try it and see how far you get marching in with his advice.

Sticky elec window is not covered by any warranty on old cheap cars.

Buy a newer car next and avoid this sort of aggro or just put up with problems inherant in a 10 yr old car.

I sold my 2 year old car to help me fund a move! Bought a cheap runaround, but this is unfortunately what I got!With regards to the airbag- they know full well what they've done. The airbag light was on constantly and when they then "fixed it" the light isn't present at all. It should come on for a couple of seconds and then turn itself off?

12 months MOT is a fair bet it's ok but might fail in the foreseeable. With 149000 miles under it's belt it's likely.
Windows that don't work don't make a car not fit for purpose.

I bought a 12 year old car for £700 and it has none of the problems the OP is experiencing.
For £3.5k no doubt you could get an example without these faults.
I'd be tempted to get my money back - he has gone against his word of fixing faults before the sale, and bodged other 'fixes' that could be safety related. That leads me to suspect that he is unwilling or unable to fix problems.
Car not as agreed, cash back please, IMO.

I have no idea why the OP took the car before all this was done, but he did.
my advice was to go and talk to him first, not threaten, just try and reason.
if the guy was willing to remove a bulb to fix a problem, then this is very serious. i would not trust my safety on a car that is to be fixed my him. for this reason I would not want him to fix it. If the OP knows this, and the dealer knows the OP knows this, then there isn't much point in asking for anything other than money back.
The OP also said the car sale was subject to the windows working, so this should have been done. bothing to do with warranty.
seeing what the OP has said since then, I would make 100% sure that he has done this. you really don't want to go in with false accusations, especially if they have bothered to fix it!

from my experience I have seen far more problems from people buying newer cars than old cars.To me it's a hell of a lot of money for a car with known problems and a nigh on worthless warranty!
A friend recently bought a mk4 golf gti for £1500 knowing there was an air bag light and a sticky door lock. There was an inherent risk that the problems would be expensive to fix, but he paid enough below Market value to warrant that risk.

There is no legal obligation to give any warranty, all you have are your statutory rights, trading standards can't do a lot and you'll have to go to court to enforce them, time consuming and costly.A dealer can't declare a sale as being trade unless it really is to the trade, eg invoiced to someone in the motor trade.

When I picked it up everything "had been done"Admittedly it took me while I got home to realise that the airbag light should have come on for a couple of seconds and off rather than not being there at all.
