Coming back from a weekend away today we were on the M25, girlfriend driving, raining hard, me on the iPhone using Google maps to see if there is any traffic building up. I'm watching our little blue dot crawl along and I decided to check BBC traffic. It turns out you can actually link into the motorway cameras and see what's happening in real time at the junctions and various in-between points, so I'm checking various spots on our forward journey.

Now my slow, ageing brain starts to formulate an idea. If I time it right I might be able to catch a shot of us driving past the camera!
So I'm watching the blue dot approaching junction 25, I switch over to the camera site and click on the junction 25 camera as we pass and fk me sideways if I don't get a shot of our car whizzing past the slip road!

Now I'm sure there are many people here going "So what, that's easy stuff you stupid old bd" but to me this is science fiction. I am controlling the motorway cameras and directing all the traffic in the world. I am Lex Luther and Ming the Merciless and Moriarty and Khan and everything. I am as excited about this as I would be riding a Spice Worm or setting down on LV-426.

I can remember some of my old man's cars that still had starting handles, and telephones with dials you actually had to turn with your finger, and decimal money being new.

I'm living in the future, officially.
