Fast 0-60 with lowest insurance

gooday, im 31yo with no no claims im looking for a car that is rapid 0-60 but with a relatively low insurance group, the MITSUBISHI COLT 1.5 CZT does it in 8 sseconds and is group 13 and i found one that had has been safely increased to 215bhp but is above my budget at 4k used my budget is 1-3k, wish i could find a mg meastro turbo! thanks for any advice

If you want things that are cheap to insure, take a look at saloons with moderate to big engines. They're not necessarily a low insurance group, but they are cheap to insure thanks to the fact that they're much more rarely rolled over by chavs.

MG ZR VAN 160 bhp and group 5 insurance, should get one around 2.5k - 0-60 in about 7.5 seconds and can be modded ..

if it has been increased to 215bhp, then the insurance will be much more expensive than this. prob the equivalent of a group 18 car?!?

Beware of anything modified! It's put your insurance premium up significantly.

If insurance and 0-60 are your only criteria a kit car will be the best bet- any old pinto engined Locost will do 0-60 in about 6 seconds and insurance is very cheap for kit cars.

clio 172? can be had 2k-3k, 6.9 seconds 0-60. I expect Insurance should be around 500 for you, being over 30 etc.

I've never understood this fascination with 0-60 times and top speed. Totally irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.

Why so hung up on 0-60 times? It's fairly meaningless.

Concentrate on cars that are a hoot to drive with a decent power to weight ratio.

Corsa SRi does it in about 8 seconds for group 9

Try something imported?

I didn't buy it, but there was a 3.0L GTV that had been imported from Guernsey I think and elephant quoted something like £450. I was 21!! A non imported UK car was about £1600 at the time!

ETA: Looking at about 6.8secs with one of them.
