Remap of Mercedes Benz Diesel
Discussion
Fear not - this will not spiral into a 335d vs 335i thread!
I have a C320 CDI Estate with the 3.0 V6 Diesel and 7G Tronic box - I think it is 225 bhp and 374lb ft of torque.
I believe the gearbox is good for the 400+ torque figure - has anybody chipped one of these engine / gearbox combinations and what were the results.
I have looked at DMS and they do remap but I wanted to find out if anybody had actually done a remap and what their thoughts were - looking for solid reliability rather than maximum power gains.

I've recently had my C270CDI done via Superchips. Its the car I use for longer runs and so didn't do it for speed.
Its added about 35BHP to it and has transformed the way it drives. Its much more sprightly, all evidence of turbo lag has disappeared and my MPG has improved.
Its the best modification I've done to any car and am thoroughly delighted with it.

I recommend Superchips maps too - they don't concentrate on top figures, rather concentrate on general drivability. The Superchips remap on my old 1.8 petrol Mondeo totally transformed it, no flat spots, lots more low end torque, and even a wee pop on overrun. Well worth the £299 on what is usually a misrable old boat anchor of an engine.
Personally I'd be wary of remapping a diesel with an Auto gearbox, they tend not to have a huge amount of 'room for improvement' in terms of torque capacity. Although the same gearbox might be used in different models with more torque, there's no guarantee that the box for your model is the same spec.

I drive a C320 CDI saloon, 2008 model. I had the brabus D6 power extra kit fitted by mercedes about a year ago. The car was already quite brisk but the kit made it feel much quicker. Beleive it added 50bhp and torque over the 400lb ft mark. Fuel economy probably improved marginally, the car chooses longer gears earlier after the tuning box was fitted. Never had any problems since the kit was fitted and probably drive the car with more of a planted right foot at times now. The brabus tuning box is not a remap to my knowledge although not sure how it works.I have a C320 CDI Estate with the 3.0 V6 Diesel and 7G Tronic box - I think it is 225 bhp and 374lb ft of torque.

Maintaining the car warranty was important to me at the time so chose this option. Mercedes manchester sell the kits on ebay for around 900 quid, I then had the kit fitted by local mercedes dealer who from memory charged around 125 quid. Small increase in insurance but obviously this depends on insurer.
Go for it!
