Why don't Aston Martin form a link with JLR?

I look at the new Vantage S and think to myself lovely car, which it is, then I think about the powerplant and it makes me a little disappointed. The current V8, I presume, is still just a reworked version of the last XK/XJ engine, which is a mid 90's design, whereas the cheaper alternative is using a 21st century designed direct injection V8, this just doesn't seem right.

Why doesn't Aston Martin strike up a deal with JLR and use the more up to date engine. I love the idea of a V8 Vantage with the supercharged 5.0 V8 out of the XKR-S, and a manual box, then it could be a proper world beater imho.
