The Ford Edsel, the Alfa Romeo Mito and the vulva.

I've been meaning to post this for a while, bear with me, it might seem an odd title!

I have had a book since I was a teenager, American Dream Cars of the 1950's, it shows a few pictures of the Ford Edsel and the text comments that at the time many American cars had very phallic styling and the the front grill resembled the vulva and that this might have contributed to the poor sales success of the Edsel.

It strikes me the front of the Alfa Romeo Mito is similar and I wonder if its affected sales?
