The biggest impact with £9999 in a beige sock?

Imagine you have nine thousand ninehundred and ninety nine pounds, stuffed into a beige sock. If you need to, you can imagine other colours of sock - but the amount really does need to stay the same.
£9999
The challenge would be to then go out and buy a car that would make the biggest positive impact on a normal drive through a normal high street...
It needs to turn heads basically, either by looks or noise or both... but more than that - it needs to have garner admiration and a positive impact from a range of people.
People who actually know their cars need to look twice and admire the thing.
Boy racers need to be in awe of some proper metal.
Random non-petrol heads need to crane their necks for a quick look of lust.
All for £9999!?

Boy racers want something with presence of power, not necessarily speed. American muscle ticks this box. Also add the whole hip hop culture as well to classic American muscle.
American muscle isn't seen very often on British roads, especially classics, so the average person would be drawn by the bigV8 and stay for the spectacle. Another box ticked for American muscle.
An enthusiast would look in awe at a classic American muscle driving along the high street and not just in a museum.
No other car would do that for 9999, not a modern Alfa or s classic British car.
A typical boy racer wouldnt be in awe of an Alfa Romeo unless it's a classic and you would be paying more than 9999 for a classic Alfa.

As an aside, my Aunt once found about £7k in a sock in a sock shop in Guildfod. I don't know if it was Beige. She handed it in to police, no-one collected it, so she got it minus a £500 "admin fee".

I refer you to my earlier suggestion of a Lotus Esprit. Find me someone who wouldn't gawk at an Esprit as it drove down the street; you're not allowed to use the terminally stupid as examples.
I think some people in here are over estimating how in awe average people and a boy racer would be of just another Mercedes or BMW. If they hear a big engine coming and turn and see a car just like all the other cars driving around, they're going to carry on with life. All cars from the last 15 years should be ruled out if you want all 3 groups to be in awe and still stick to £9999. A modern Mercedes or BMW is to sophisticated and to common.

But the CL55 Merc, was a top of the range Merc only a few years ago, cost mega-bucks when new, and as a result would draw many an envious glare if parked on your driveway.
Few cars shout 'super-expensive' for a modest outlay, all IMHO of course.
EDIT - re-read the original post, and you are probably right. People who know their cars, are aware that all big luxury cars are worth less than 10% of their original value within 5-7 years.

E39 M5: Sounds EVIL, Proper petrolheads appreciate them. Boy Racers know them and DREAM of 400bhp. Non-ptrolheads will Wonder how that dull looking saloon is making such a racket/progressing so rapidly. Mitsubishi Evo: Proper petrolheads know that they are towards the pinnacle of the Rally-Reps. Totally focussed driving machines, despite theire marmite looks. Boy racers - Well, they're the car that has spawned a thousand imitations and stick on wings. They're basically responsible for Halfords still being in business. Random Non petrolheads will assume that it's got the go to match the show, and for once, it has.
Vauxhall Monaro: Brilliant V8 Burble and loads of torque. They're rare and will turn boy racers heads before leaving them for dead in a cloud of tyre smoke. Non Petrolheads again will see the scoops and feel the ground rumble, and passengers will spend their journey looking out of the side window and holding onto the "mercy handle"...
Vauxhall VX220: Real petrolheads know to look past the Vauxhall badge. Boy racers admire them as the sports car they wish their Corsa/Astra was, and they've actually got quite a following on the 'Scene' as Charvers grow up and can afford a proper car. And non-petrolheads will assume that as it's lower than a snakes belly and bright yellow, it's a sports car. And for once, they're right.
I had sound jsutification for every car posted. Just because you can't see things from another perspective, doesn't make anyone else "wrong"...
Also, this is a purely hypothetical construct, you do realise that, right?
