well it should be 4p increase on april 1st and then vat on that so another 4.8p per litre all told.
so, who thinks it will stay, who thinks it will go?
personally, I think they will either add on just 1p or they will 'defer' the rise until October this year.

i DONT WANT the fuel stabiliser at all - what that will mean is fuel will drop a couple of pence but when oil falls it will stay the same and you will be done over like a kipper
Erm...I believe its planned to increase by RPI which I believe is 5.1%, so definately not just 4p, then add on the other 1p...
ETA: Apologies, Feb RPI is 5.5%, and then another 1p added on, so if the rise goes ahead, say the average cost of a litre is £1.30 then on April 1st this will jump to £1.38 - 8p in one day...

Can you honestly see the price ever dropping by any significant amount? fuel duty is about 55p so plus inflation on that is about 3p plus the penny takes it to about 4p and then add the 20% vat on the fuel duty so it's 4.8p in total. I have studied it for a while as you can tell 
its the budget tomorrow chaps, wake up - you will see how much more your cigs, booze etc will cost. Further to this there are likely to be tax changes and obviously we know already about the extra national insurance.
the duty is supposed to kick in on april 1st so in about a week but it's not likely to go ahead now it may be deferred for a few months.
then we have rate rises coming - oooh, I can feel the pain already.
Oil up a tickle again today and the recent rises still not filtered through to the pumps yet
don't forget this fuel duty escalator is not just for this april, oh no, it is due to rise by another 1p plus inflation in april 2012 and 1p plus inflation in 2013 too. This could add another 15p alone to fuel prices by 2013.
also company car tax is going to be more but most people haven't realised this but you only have to look on comcar to see the stealth crippling effect it will have
also the 1% rise in national insurance will come in - people are about to get a kicking sadly

How about they tax all businesses that are based in the UK, even if they are legally based offshore. That would easily raise a billion a year, and the average Joe would feel a lot less ripped off paying taxes if they were applied to all. Currently they are applied to all except those who can most afford them.

It's inflation (note: RPI, not CPI, which is historically the higher measure) plus 1p£1.30/l is cheap for petrol around here by the way

Would probably be the end of some businesses that use their tax position to sell cheaper products (play.com, some Amazon subsidaries, etc)EDLT said:
