4 Door - 5 Seats - Roll Cage?

Guys, I'd like your opinions please.

I've taken the Jag off the road to restore and modify it. Power is going up and brakes and suspension will be uprated to cope.

I want to keep the car as a daily with all interior trim and seats retained but am considering the safety aspects of a roll cage as I intend to get a few track days more ring trips under my belt.

Does anyone know of or have pics of a 4 door 5 seat car with a cage in?

Would the cage simply be too intrusive? (I'm expecting to climb over some sort of small door bar)

Would a cage that works around the existing seating not offer much strength and be a waste of time?

In terms of cages on daily drivers, they tend to put your insurance up a bit, even half cages. Reason being apparently that even on a low impact shunt, naked heads on tubular steel tend not to mix too well.

Even naked heads on a padded cage is a no-no. Sit in a car and think about how close the cage would be to your head - to someone not strapped in TIGHT with a 4-point harness and how far they would move in a normal inertia reel belt, then how far their head would move on their neck. I head-butted the side window when seated normally in an tightish inertia reel belt when I got hit.

Just for a laugh though - ask for an insurance quote, declaring the cage . . . but sit down on a well secured, wide, deep, difficult to fall out of, chair before they give you the answer . .

You don't have to have door bars, or get them removable so you only bolt them in for track days.
