As the title suggests, Why not ?
- cheap
- 230bhp
- LSD
- just under 150 mph top end
- well equiped
Anyone had any bad experiences or knows of any down falls ?
( same to insure for me as a 328is / clio 172 ) both of which are slower on paper, although around a track I think the Clio would be more fun and quicker.... never the less still look like sensational value for money.

They are good value for money though.
Short trips are only a problem when starting from cold . Any trip over 1/4 of a mile and you wont have a problem even when starting from cold. There is a procedure for turning it off and not flooding it if you are just moving it around the drive etc when cold. They are good value for money though.

It uses oil like a 2 stroke engine it burns it off after lubrication.
I have done 20 000 miles in mine and have only just had to buy my 4th 5l bottle of oil. It uses 5w 30 semi synthetic which works out at about £30 for a bottle out of Halfords.

So a bottle of oil every 5000miles? What I'd be worried about, if buying used, are those that have been owned by people with no mechanical sympathy!It uses oil like a 2 stroke engine it burns it off after lubrication.

would you rank a 2stroke moped the same?They are great cars to drive, I had an '08 231.
However, be prepared to piss your money away on fuel. 18 mpg is good.
Also, make sure you have the engine checked over by someone who knows them. Most of the early ones will have new engines or need one soon. If you buy one of the latter it will be very expensive.
Cheap ones are normally cheap for a reason (trying to get them off their hands quickly before the bills come rolling in).
As above, if you engine is ok they dont drink oil, just check it regularly like you would with any other car. The tip issue isnt a major problem with the new engines either. I think they improved the oiling system around '06 or '07 to reduce wear.
Basically buy as new as you can afford, wait till you find the car you want (avoiding all the donkeys) and enjoy a great drivers car.
