Can I drive on the A64 on a provisional licence?

Hi, not sure if this is the right section

But myfull question is can I drive from York on the A64 down to the A171 to Scarborough on a provisional licence?

Obviously I will have a full licence holder over the age of 21 in the car with me and want to go tommorow.

Thanks wasn't sure if any motor way restrictions apply or where the A64 changes to the A64M.

Don't think the A64 is a motorway anywhere, but if you see any of these then you need to pull off and have a re-think:



ETA - age of supervisor doesn't matter, they have to have had their license for over 3 years!!

ETA#2 - A64 according to google maps and my memory is all A-Roads, so you should be fine!

I didn't know there was an A64 M stretch, in that case you can't drive on the M bit. If in any doubt blue road signs are a motorway so would stop someone on a provisional driving.

You might be better driving UP the A64 if you want to get to Scarborough!

Thanks I made a mistake before while travelling to halifax and followed the A64 and ended up on the A58M, don't want to do that again

only section that is M on the A64, is the stretch in Leeds.

but you dont need to worry.

Yes it does, Driver must have been driving for 3 years AND be over 21

Sorry forgot to mention about that, my mates had a licence for 6 years. Thanks for the help.
