Surely the best way to annoy the taxman would be to buy an electric car? Five grand subsidy and no road tax or fuel duty.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't cars on the old registrations, ie before Sept 2001 only taxed in two categories, under 1600cc and above? If that's true then anything over 1.6 really, maybe one of these just to rub salt in his wounds

Range Rover Supercharged, 4.2, 400 bhp, registered Sept 05, and the kicker? Runs on LPG, so even when I'm using it I'm laughing! (Can fill up locally at 69.9 pence per litre).;)

An RX7 qualifies for the 'under 1549 cc' level of tax as they have a 1.3 litre engine, albeit a rotary engine. That's £125 per year for a 200+ bhp car.

edit- however the amount of fuel they drink will please the taxman

Not in the UK they measure the expansion and exhaust section of the rotor making a 13b a 2.6 according to the DVLA.

Oh right, I didn't realise they did that for the RX7. I knew that an RX8 was registered as a 2.6 (as I used to have one). I knew that the engines are both the same size though, just thought the RX7 was registered as it's actual engine size (2 x 650 cc)
