Is the economic climate right for....

specialising in a one make and model of a two different very sought after cars?

One is a popular daily driver, the other a good track car - I don't really want to say what they are at the moment.

The hard part will be sourcing them at the right price.

Prices for them are not absurd, £4k - £10k for clean examples.

I just wonder, is there still money out there to support this type of venture?

Sorry, I should have said.

Both really.

But for the servicing part, I'll need to equip a workshop so that will have to come later and will depend on how the sales side takes off.

Not sure I really understand the question. But yes.

Specialise always survive or start up again or allow new ones to start up. While the vehicles exist there will always be people willing and able to support them. IMO.

They are both very sought after models, both modern/current cars.
I'd like to move onto servicing them too and track preparation for enthusiasts. I have the skills for all of this so minimal learning curve other than the business development and financing side. Even with that, I will have a website and will offer web space for related advertising (insurance and bespoke parts etc).

I'd also like to turn over a small volume of popular classics, bought cheaply to enable me to do some restoration on them. This part is more for fun but would have to also make a profit.

I'm of a similar opinion.

The cars in question are unique in their market place and as such I feel there will be a market for them for a few years to come.

I'd still be interested in hearing opposite opinions though if anyone can think of negative points I may not have considered please.

If they are an older and saught after model already how are you going to make any margin?
Unless you have found a unique source you are going to be competing against your own target market when you buy them into stock.

I'll buy them at a good price, perhaps some in need of a little work or TLC, sort them all so that they are spot on (no need to outsource this so it is cheaper) and they will be marketed from a specialist where people will be prepared to pay that little extra for the right car.

I'll also offer the cars with performance upgrades purchased at the time of buying the car for an excellent price, much less than if they sourced them later & elsewhere.
