What type of car is it, and where is the damage in relation to where it was parked? High on a door or low on a qtr panel...?

What do his pals neighbours drive,, and do any have his paint on their bumper corners etc?

Or perhaps your son had a small 'off' somewhere and hit something..

mmmn, it's a 328iS E36 Coupe, and was in lovely nick. I tend to agree that it looks more like a ding than vandalism

I agree, if someone had kicked it or similar it would just have a massive dent with probably no paint damage.
What part of the car is it? There's loads of E36s being broken on Ebay in all colours so if it's just a panel it's a pretty easy fix.
