Abandoned BMW and Merc AMG

Hi,

Cant get on in my old name (JoPo) so had to sign up again.

I was working up north today and was working next to an old ladys house.

As I was getting on with my work I noticed the cars in her driveway didnt really 'match' her, So to speak.

The cars were:

'R' reg Mercedes C-Class AMG Estate
'D' reg 'Alpina' BMW B10 (Brown leather, White decals on side)
'B' reg Escort Estate

The first two looked somewhat special.

I seen her going out to her shed for coal (Really!) and decided to ask her about them.

It turns out her son Married an Australlian Girl 4 years ago and moved to kangaroo land. He's been back a few times since but she says he has no interest in them and havent moved in a while.
She gave me his number to ask him about them but I dont know what to ask or even what they are worth.

The Mercedes and BMW B10 looked in great nick other than moss and grime on them. The BMW leather was in good nick and inside was immaculate.

What are these worth and what should I do about it?

Sounds like you might have found a bargain or three. Out of curiosity, if he was selling them extremely cheaply, what would you do with them? running costs of those three cars certainly won't be a bargain.

A B reg Escort estate is pretty rare these days, so may be worth more than you think to a Ford fan!

Being fair, The Escort looked passed any help. It had holes in the panels and missing trim on the inside.

I fully intend to give them a good look over and im only interested in the Merc and BMW.

The Merc i'd sell on and the BMW i'd hold onto for a while after a good clean up etc.

Are Alpina's rare or worth anything or are they just a spec level?

Alpina are a car manufacturer in their own right, their cars are based on BMWs obviously. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpina

Infact, Almost identical to this, Except it had white Alpine detailing on the side's and a twin exhaust instead of single.

50/50 "Ger arf moi larnd!" or apolite sorry the cars are not for sale.

There are only seven three door Mk3 Escort Estates registered at the moment.

Why do I never find AMG's lying around?

The W202 AMG Estate is a fairly rare machine. You would be looking at more than £5k for a good one these days. I would double check that it is the proper C36 AMG version as most AMG badged cars aren't what they seem.

Im almost certain it is an AMG due to the brakes and it had large, sorry looking, wheels.

Honestly, The Escort is beyond fked.

Dials, gear knob and occasionally the steering wheel can carry tell tale signs of AMzg ingredients.
