Fitting tyres

If I were to purchase tyres independently, how much would it cost to have them fitted please?

I have usually paid about 10 pounds a tyre, but as said, it varies.

Blackcirlces.com or similar will give you price supplied & fitted otherwise I've paid £10/£15 a tyre but you can get it cheaper if you hunt about.

Local backstreet garage charge £5 per tyre, or all four for £30 fitted and balanced.

I went to ATS a few years ago with some tyres that I wanted fitting. I bought part worns as I was part exing the car the next week. They refused as the tyres were not supplies by them and they would be responsible if anything happened and it was due to the tyres.

£40 for all four winter tyres on my Honda but when I needed a tyre swapped between rims on the Ferrari the cheeky bugger charged me £20! I wont be going back.

£5 a corner including valve, balancing and disposal if you give the spotty youths at the local ATS cash in hand, providing the boss isn't around.

Local independent told me £15 per tyre when I spoke to them on Monday!!!



When consider that they're only £35 each anyway (wifes Micra) it was quite a shock.

Check prices at etyres and eventtyres for mobile fitting. I have found there's not much in it when you compare to places like camskill and factor in fitting. Plus it's done on your drive/at work.

I know tyres have to be fitted and disposed of correctly but £50 for 30 mins work?

An extra tenner for the convenience of it being done on my drive? I think so. Also, I have a theory that the mobile guys who tend to own their own franchise/van/kit are a lot more careful and conscientious than your average tyre fitter in a garage who doesn't have any contact with you while you sit in the draughty waiting room accompanied only buy a few dog eared 18 month old copies of autotrader...

Got to agree there, when put like that £50 is quite fair enough really.
Just irks me a bit that you get the tyres cheap but then end up paying the same in the end anyway

I've found the opposite, the local lot don't use airtools and know how to use a torque wrench, the mobile bloke trashed my locking nuts with his air wrench. I suspect he was in a hurry to get to the next job.

Just had the event guy round. Top bloke, had a good chat, was very careful and showed me all the plastic covers on everything to prevent damage.

Only slight fly in the ointment was that the invoice was £20 more than my confirmation email said - quick email off to head office ought to sort that out. I'm guessing the tyre price has gone up in the last week. The guy was great and I will use again provided they refund me the £20

ETA: Just had a call from the office full of apologies and £20 refunded!

Will definitely be using again
