Best small 7 seated

Would appreciate your advice as to what is the best small 7 seated to go for. We are downsizing from our second Volvo XC90. We have looked at the Qashqai +2, the VW Touran and will look at a Verso this weekend. We have a budget around £20k. Would prefer not to buy new if possible. We will need to use all 7 seats occasionally. Our youngest children are 3 and 8 and would obviously use them! Thanks in advance for your advice.
We have had 2 Vauxhall Zafiras in the past and the Flex 7 seating was really good , but car makers probably have better seating arrangements nowadays. Still worth considering though
Would the Hyundai Santa-Fe be too big? They are supposed to have a good diesel engine in them , and IMO they look alright. Prices start around £12.5k for a good one. You may even be able to get a top of the range Executive spec on a '59'/'10' plate for around your £20k budget.

We looked round a Mazda5 a while back, and were quite impressed, especially with the sliding rear doors. They must be a benefit in supermarket parking spaces.
Probably not usable as a seven seater for really long trips, as the middle seat in the middle row is a funny little thing that folds away under the seat next to it, but for four with big luggage, or six regularly it looks the part.

We've got a Touran tdi (105hp), which is 7 seats. There is plenty of room in the middle row and the kids are ok when using the extra 2 seats.
It's well build, ok to drive and has been pretty reliable in the 2 yesrs we've had it.
There's no spare wheel though, only a can of sealer. A pretty stupid arrangement I think. The 5 seater includes a full size spare.

S-Max all day long, awesome cars. Can't stand Zafiras I'm afraid.
I'd personally be considering a Sharan/Galaxy/Alhambra, but that's because other than sliding doors I haven't found much else to compete TBH, and we've got two of them. (The only problem is what to do with the seats when you want them out of the car. And they're heavy buggers to lug about. :-/ )
