Ok, so it's not going to set the world alight, nor is it going to draw any admiring glances (apart from, maybe, pipe'n'slippers brigade), but I'm hoping my choice of replacement for the old Mk4 Fiesta will prove to be reliable, comfortable and reasonably economical for the next 2-3 years.

Ignore the doubters. I once bought a 101000 mile Carina II 1600 and it was a thoroughly good car and jolly sensible, very solid and I actually made a profit on it after a year's use.
