A couple of times i've put my foot down a bit to make them run when the 
s do that, it made me chuckle when they run and stick their fingers up at you 
well 'ard innit blud!
I've thought better of it nowadays because one day I might actually hit one and although a great service to mankind, the police wouldn't see it that way!

You don't live in Winchester do you? The pedestrians here are either thick or colour blind as they wander out into the road across junctions eventhough the traffic lights are displaying green for vehicles 
Someone was knocked down by a car last month at a junction, sadly the first thing that came to mind was "Well there's a surprise, hope the driver is not too traumatised".
Must be something in the water around here, common sense and self preservation seem absent from the population of Winchester

I'm afraid it's fairly endemic throughout the UK.And what makes it worse is that they often look, see you heading towards them, and then step out anyways (except for the half-wit [if I am generous] who stepped out in front of me without looking, perhaps his Ipod earphones were going to save him from impact but he heard the screech of my brakes).
I seem to recall someone I know who once had a large jap IL4 sports rocket launching jsut after such dawdlers had passed and slapping them across the arse with mirrors just for fun and also once unintentionally collected one on the front of said bike when they stepped out into traffic whilst the bike was filtering.. ended with said ped getting a headbutt from a semi stoppie ...
