There are some funny stories about the filming. They blew up a 300SL because Pat O'Malley forgot to change gear and they went through tow Camaro engines. As replacements they hired a car and stripped out the engine.

The NY scenes were filmed for real early one morning but most of the filming was done in Arizona.

The Jaguar that refused to start in the NY garage throughout the film was because Jaguar would not lend the director a car, so he took his revenge.

The Daytona used was once owned by Mel Blanc, the voice of Bugs Bunny and is now in the Petersen Car Museum in LA. A second Daytona was also used and was written off, the director was reimbursed $35,000 by the studio! The Cobra is a real 66 427 Cobra today valued at over £400,000.

The Daytona today would fetch beyond US $ 750,000 as only 120 genuine Spyders were built with over 100 coupe to convertible conversions.

It's an ace film in much the same vein that the cannonball run is, pure unadulterated cheese fest with a barely existent story line and lots of cars.
