Is this an E-bay scam?

I have sold a Sony Walkman MP3 player on E-bay. It wasn't working and I didn't expect much for it but it bid up to £46.

The buyer has now contacted me and asked for it to be sent signed for to China. I have got a filter set on my account which restricts bids to only people from the UK and the buyers location is shown as Tyne and Wear.

I have told him I will only ship to UK but now he is saying he is an exchange student in China.

He has 100% positive feedback over the past year but only seems to buy Sony MP3 Walkmans (having purchased about 37 in the last year).

I am thinking they may have quite a bit of gold inside them and are being bought to be melted down but can't help thinking something fishy is going on.

Any thoughts/ideas?

Tell him you said it would only be shipped to UK, so he needs to give you a UK address.

Yeah, I have told him he is registed in UK so will gladly send to a friend/relative and await his reply.

This is what's sh!t about E-bay. He will no doubt give me neg feedback and there is jack I can do about it.

Try contacting one of the previous Walkman sellers and see what they have to say about him.
After all it won't cost a fortune to send it to china and you think the price is good.
What's his adress in t&w ?
