MOT Advisory Information Online ?

I'd seen a car for sale, it had a recent MOT but I could see from the certificate that an advisory note had been made.

Unfortunately the seller has "mislaid" this info ("somehow" the second sheet had been detached from the certificate).

I've walked away, but out of interest is there any way with only with the cars reg I can find out what these issues were ? Is this available on the official website ?

Not without the number on the V5c or MOT cert.

Why disguise your voice? If the only reason you walked away was because you couldn't see the MOT history, then presumably you'd still be interested if the advisories weren't too major. Why not call the seller back and ask for the MOT number - if he thinks he'll make a sale then why would he withhold it from you?

Indeed. If you went to see the car, and then finally saw the document and saw things you didn't like, you'd walk away. So why waste your time or theirs.

Just ask for the info to be able to check

Pretty sure this was the done thing these days when buying/selling privately!?

Chances are if the advisory notice has managed to magically detach itself from the MOT cert, the seller is hiding something nasty.

Yep, my Z4 one had, from a trader seller too.

Wasn't anything I didn't spot anyway (shafted tyres on the insides)


I'd worry if a seller doesn't want you to see past history!
