Are they really reliable?

I've seen a few customisers installing them but wondered what happens on really cloudy days.

I know, with my Garmin, if I'm in a really wooded area, the sky is really cloudy or in a really cluttered area (ex. many tall buildings and power lines) I lose signal, temporarily.

What if the Rigellians destroy our satellites?

Officer: Do you know how fast you were going?
Me: Not a clue.

Yes, fairly accurate in a straight line, without any incline or decine.

Readings can be somewhat iffy on twistier roads and when the altitude of the road varies dramatically.

Clouds really should not affect readings, not as much as the above will anyway.

This is what I've been told anyway, happy to be corrected.

No, they don't; the primary speed measurement in GPS is performed via a Doppler measurement.

TBH it's an average when delivered to the device... correct? Or, rather, the device is calculating an average?

But!... when there is NO signal... then what?

And what about the Rigellians?!!! FFS!

But essentially, the device calculates an average based on some underpaid engineers equations.
And there is always the no signal factor.

I just don't get why you'd want an instrument (you expect to be correct) that's inaccurate or non functional, at times. (this is where I seem upset, but I'm just confused)

Do these speedos make up for the lost signal or have an oversampling log. base?

Sorry, this may appear to be a fierce retort but is just a simple reply.

I am concerned about the Rigellians of course, as we all are.

That's.... basically where I was going with it. Sorry, I didn't read your entire post before my previous. But, I also have the issue with the blackout issue as well.
