Oil Filter test rig - How best to do it?

Hi all,

I need to make a test bed to run oil through an oil filter constantly for 800 hours.

The filter has an input feed and an output feed on the top, both with a 12mm thread.

I also have a 12v pump and some tubes.

Then, I need to somehow make the oil dirty every now and then, to test the effectiveness of the filtration, and to simulate the environment it will be used in. (Probably middle east).

It needs to be some sort of closed loop system, so that it can just run and run and run, but how do I dose the dirty particles?

It's a tough one. (for me anyway)

Ideas appreciated.

Take used oil from a car with a known mileage?

You need to know

Differential pressure across the filter
Particle count before and after
Flow rate

Also need to keep oil temp and viscosity constant otherwise that will effect your results
