I can normally spot them pretty quickly, but this has got me thinking... I enquired about a car advertised on gumtree and this is the response I got back:

The car is located in UK, i have the full service history and V5 present.The price that i'm asking for the car is £2400.Probably you are wondering why i am selling it for such a low price, because the market price for right handed vehicles is low here in Germany and having a lower price than the UK market will bring me a buyer faster than having a high one.

Normally the slightly odd sentence structure would put me off, but obviously English isn't his first language (in which case he writes very well).
Assuming the car is/was registered in Germany (is it?)
Do cars get recorded stolen/written off etc in Germany the same way they do here? Obviously doing a UK check won't tell you, I'd guess you'd want to do checks in Germany and wherever the car came from.
I suppose you need to teach yourself about the equivalent of the German V5C?

Check the person selling it is the registered keeper as listed on the V5C!

I recently emailed a seller on here about a Meriva which seemed to be very cheap for the year/mileage. When he got back to me, the car was in England but he was in Holland I think it was and was, as he put it "ready to travel back to the UK to do a deal".
Surprisingly enough I didn't reply.

A lot of them say that sort of thing these days, but at some point (when you are hooked) it will inevitably end up with you sending some somebody some money.The other possibility is that you turn up to buy the car and get robbed.

Main question though is - at £2,400 asking price, how much under the market price is the car?
