Selling a car..

I have never sold a car properly before (traded one in and sold another to a mate). Today, there is someone coming to view it who does seem quite keen. Man in question is an officer of the law and also seems quite keen to tell me that I 'will obviously realise it is over-priced'.
Anyone got any tips on what I need to show him or shall I let him just ask all the questions?

I do take it in good humour. I wouldn't be offended by any sort of haggle. When he said I will give you X amount I just replied 'that would be nice, but you wouldn't be getting the car'. He laughed so all was good.
My advert is as honest as it could get, cleaned the car yesterday, spent bloody hours doing it!! Will be seeing him this evening I think.
One thing I didn't do though (and I am furious with myself). After the cleaning session yesterday I forgot 3 things. Oil, Water and tyre pressure. I'm at work all day so might not get a chance to go and do them all but, oil was checked at the weekend (as was water levels) and the tyres were done 11 days ago.

Remember any negotiation is about alternatives.
Do you have plenty of alternative buyers? (how long has it been for sale? - have you had a number of other enquiries? - how keenly priced is it?)
Does the buyer have plenty of alternative cars like yours to choose from?
You have to try and make a judgement. If his offer is too low, and you are confident it can be sold for more to someone one else then say so.
Also bear in mind if he really thought it was overpriced, why is he taking to the time to come and look at it?

It hasn't been for sale long yet as I was only really trying to guage interest. Haven't had many people contact us though so haven't got anyone to play him off against.

Seriously unprofessional he he is using his day job to intimidate you. Inappropriate abuse of his position. I can't remember needing to tell a car seller about my job.Anyone got any tips on what I need to show him or shall I let him just ask all the questions?
Last year I sold a car to a WPC. When enquiring about the car she told me over the phone that she was in the police force. I took this as being considerate in that when she turned up at my door at 08.00 the following morning in uniform with a uniformed colleague I would not be alarmed. The intersting thing was that the first thing she did when inspecting the car was feel the tyres for tread!
I can imagine that if my car was not taxed and keep on the street that might have put her in a difficult position.
Coincidentally one of my kids had been summoned for a traffic offence that week. She and her colleague were very helpful with advice.

A bit harsh. He's just intimating that he is trustworthy, and that you shouldn't try and con him, which is fair enough. I usually say things when I negotiate to get myself seen in the same light when I negotiate too.
