What car for Dad ????

Hi All,

My Dad wants and new car and thinks he wants a 4x4 ????

He has always wanted a RR or X5 but I will try and pursuade him....so what should I suggest? In the past 15 years he has had BMW 5 series, Merc E-class, Passat and more recently a Golf.

He is coming up to his 60th birthday and I think he wants something with a bit of presence and something to waft to the golf club, pick the grand kids up from school and the odd motorway blast to see the family in Kent and Midlands.

I might take him to see:

Jag s-type
Jag XJ
Audi A6
BMW 5 series


The difficult bit.......his budget is £12-13k

If he doesn't budge from the 4x4 idea what is best for his budget.....oh and guess what....he wants a diesel !!!!

Running costs need to be a factor as he is retired and doesn't want to just throw his cash away...
I like the sound of the Jag idea too.

I've just bought an LS400. It's lovely. I suggest you look at an LS430, for that budget you'll get an excellent one.
