As good as it sounds ? LSD conversion in STD diff .........

I've been looking into LSD's for E36 323i's and obviously come accross the E36 M3 3.0 and 328is diffs that just bolt in but cost over £200 whereas these are a lot cheaper....... anyone had any experience with these http://www.phantomgrip.com/


Few videos on YouTube confirm they "work" but has anyone on here had any actuall experience with such things ?

I wouldn't. It's a pain in the ass to get the diff out, then to open it etc if it decides not to work.
Just get 2nd one from other bimmer

Can pick up a bogo standard 323/325/328 diff for circa £100 and then I was thinking ripping it apart and trying it out on the cheap spare diff

Guys out in yanky land are running them and seem to rate them although some dis approve as it locks the 2 spyder gears together (obviously not contact gears) which some people see as dangerous through making high stress drivetrain components do things that they're not meant to do .......

Which makes the same thing as a welded diff, not as a LSD

that's what I thought (turning it into 100/100 2 way locker) but according to the info it depends what springs you put in it which affects how hard if pushes against the outer spyder gears so in theory it's a tweakable diff aswell although it be the same on acceleration/deceleration opposed to say 80/50.

screw it i'll either weld it or put some ridiculously (treacle) heavy weight diff oil in there.

Make sure somebody knows how to weld it and put enough diff oil in afterwards.

I've had a diff block itself at 60mph due to the weld being st entertaining...

I'd be welding it, welded another mates 318is diff a couple of months back ..... that's no problems

You'll get a BMW one for about £200 - bolt in job - easy with a helping pair of hands
