Golf R32 vs Impreza STi (08-) hatchbacks

Continuing with the theme of Hot Hatches .. which of these two AWD hatchbacks would you get and why? I like the R32 but it's not exactly uber-hot hatch in 0-60 terms - people in the know tell me it's very special to drive (like a Clio V6 that won't leave the road backwards) and can't be compared directly to a GTi. Whereas the Impreza fanboys tell me the 04- Impreza was the best and the new one isn't so good etc. But in the context of hatchbacks - which of these cars is better?
