What car do I have?

Seems silly, but I've been under the impression that my Laguna is a Mk I.

I rang many breakers today looking for an EGR valve pipe for a:

Renault Laguna RT Alize DTI, Mk I, 1999, 5 door hatchback.

But the last breaker I spoke to informed me that I've actually got a Mk II. If I've got this wrong then I'm gonna be quite peed off because I've spent most of the afternoon ringing breakers asking for what might be a Mk II part. Can anyone qualify how much of an idiot I truly am?

It's the facelifted MK1, but that engine never came in the pre-facelift diesels, they got the 2.2 van engine.

So I have a nicer looking MK I but the engine is technically a MK II? The engine size is 1870CC on the log book.

If I ever meet the guy who designed the Laguna MK I EGR valve then I might quite being a pacifist. £60 from Renault for a metal pipe! £60!!!

A breaker advised me to buy new based on the age of the car and the fact that many breakers throw pipes away because it's not worth their time. There goes a days wages.

Yup, dull blue to the end. I love them too: reliable (apart from the EGR valve), sturdy, economical, very comfortable, pretty stylish, roomy, and even for an old girl it car still finds ample overtaking power when it needs to.

Plus, they're only £500 for 100k at the moment.

The only downside is the £200+ road tax, but that's the governments fault.

I would but I haven't got the time to find some mild steel & cut the templates.

Plus, there's a danger that the ECU would believe there was something wrong with the EGR valve and pop it back into limp mode, which I haven't got time to bypass at the moment. But believe me, if this EGR valve buggers up again, then I'll be blanking the damn thing off with kryptonite and spit.
