1999 car with 70,000 miles, no MOT and no tax, it's not worth a lot more, it's an old car!

It does. I'm thinking dodgy accident repair since I bet it's a respray. And why wouldn't you MoT it if all that was needed was tyres? The missing number plate on the front makes the senses tingle. But I badly want it!

A8 is hopefully selling this week, Mazda will probably badly fail MoT tomorrow and I want an S2000...

I do have to say that the drivers seat bolster is very worn for a car with only 70,000 miles! Or is that just 70,000 recorded miles?

As with any car, no MOT means it's worth diddly squat. If there was really only minor stuff to do then it would be done as any seller knows they can sell much more easily with 12 month ticket on it.

I know seat bolsters can wear but that's VERY bad wear for only 70,000miles. Alarm bells are ringing.

New roof and seats and tyres needed plus no doubt something big to get it through MOT (suspension bushes probably, £1k minimum unless you DIY and source parts (see my comments in Honda forum here).

So, even if it was £4k and mileage/SH genuine etc., you're looking at £1-2k on top easily.

True, the whole process of importing and registering could hide many sins. Just can't quite get my head around it, but the ad seems a little sparse.

I sold my lower millage, UK supplied S2000, Full main dealer history, 12 months MOT, hardtop and 45k miles for £7300

so I'm not sure I'd want to pay £4k for an import with no MOT, a fair few more miles, 4 years older, no hardtop, no head unit, damaged seats, tear in roof, if it was going to pass an MOT any 1/2 sensible seller would have put one on it.

Personally I think if you spent a little more you'd get a much better car.

Couldn't agree more. That bolster looks like its see 150K miles.
Expect to pay for tyres and bushes too.
