Car give aways

I remember going through General Gassing a few weeks ago and reading a post about one lucky PHer who won a new Porsche with one of those prize car give aways like the ones you usually see at Heathrow airport.

I never play the lottery or scratch cards or anything like that but a supercar give away is somthing I can see myself forking out £20 (or how ever much) a month for.

I looked on Google last night to check out some sites that did it and some seemed more trustworthy than others. So I wondering does anyone on here regularly or occasionally take part in one?

I play best of the best sometimes. http://www.botb.com/ Its the one you see in airports but you can plan on-line too.

They often send me emails with "offers" which make it cheaper to enter - they also do a £10 ticket which wins a lower cost car.

IIRC there was a guy on here who won a cayman from them.

Did look at best of the best, is that the one where you need to guess where the ball is? Can't check it right now.

I was a bit put of by that idea to be honest. Was hoping for just an all round, fair raffle kind of deal...

The guy who won a Cayman won it through best of the Best. Greta thread on PH about the whole experience.
I am absolutely rubbish at spot the ball competitions, but these Supercar "raffles" have to be run like this due to the gaming laws- there has to be an element of skill to win- you can't just have a simple lottery unfortunately.

Yeah I read that bit about the gambling laws, does it show how close you were to the ball when the contest ends?

Yes, you get to see where you were, where the ball was and where the winning entrant put their cross.

If you're very close you get some credits to put against your next entry (i've got these a couple of times).

someone I know won a Cayman from doing one at Gatwick.

it turned out to be a Cypriot spec car. but still. it only cost him a ton. kept it a year and flogged it on.

I thought you win not by guessing where the ball actually was, but where a Premiership referee thinks it is. I was told it's done that way so no-one who finds the original photo would be able to cheat.
